WE ARE NOT CURRENTLY RECRUITING.

AT THIS CURRENT TIME WE DO NOT HAVE ANY VACANCIES FOR HOME BASED TRANSCRIBERS.  YOU ARE WELCOME TO SEND THROUGH YOUR CV, WHICH WE CAN KEEP ON RECORD IN CASE OF FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN ARC TRANSCRIPTION AND SECRETARIAL SERVICES.

Please be aware that we receive a very high number of applications each week, so cannot guarantee to reply to all emails.

Any speculative applications WILL NOT be considered unless accompanied by a full CV detailing your transcription experience.  Your application can only be considered if you’re able to answer yes to the following questions:

All our transcribers work for us on a freelance basis.  They are therefore responsible for their own National Insurance and Income tax.  All transcribers will be required to sign a freelance agreement to this effect before working for us.  In return we offer competitive freelance rates and a friendly efficient central office on hand to support you.

We look forward to working with you.

* If you apply to work for Arc Services on a freelance basis it would be appreciated if you could supply details of the transcription software you currently use and the type of headphones you use.

If you are interested in working for Arc as a home transcriber then please read our guidelines below.  Any job opportunities will be posted on this page. Our typists work on a self employed basis and come from across the UK.

USEFUL INFORMATION ABOUT WORKING FOR ARC TRANSCRIPTION:

  1. We are not able to guarantee levels of work to our self employed transcribers.  If you are looking to do audio transcription full time then we would recommend registering with several companies.
  2. We never charge our transcribers to register with us.  Please be very wary of any company that asks you to make an up front payment in return for work.
  3. You will always be told in advance of the rate of pay you will receive for the document you audio type for us.  Rates may vary for multiple speakers, lower than usual audio quality etc.
  4. Please make every effort to meet the deadlines or let us know as soon as possible if there are likely to be any problems with the turnaround of your transcription tasks.  You are much more likely to be asked to work for us again if your work is received by us within the timeframe we request.
  5. The same applies for accuracy.  If we find lots of errors in your typing when you return a transcript to us then we are very unlikely to ask you to work for us again.  We understand that some audio recordings are more difficult to transcribe than others and we will allow for this in our assessment of your work, but please do your best at all times.  Googling any unfamiliar terms will definitely earn you brownie points!
  6. Do keep us informed about your holidays/other work commitments.  If we know your availability then it helps us offer you transcription jobs at times that suit you.
  7. Do pay attention to the instructions provided.  Most of our documents will follow our standard template but there will be exceptions.  Our central office can get extremely busy and so it really helps us immensely if we receive transcripts back which exactly follow the instructions we’ve given.  We will always provide a template or full instructions for layout, font, type of transcript (verbatim, intelligent verbatim etc.)

We are looking for conscientious team players we can rely on.

Do make sure your CV includes all relevant information on your typing and transcribing experience.  Have you got experience in transcribing one to one interviews and focus groups or straightforward dictation? Do you come from a specific background which might help you understand more technical language related to say scientific research for example?

We don’t have rules for the typing speed of our transcribers, but do bear in mind that you will be paid for the length of the recording you type and not for the time it takes you.

Do you have particular experience of different accents?  We receive audio recordings with a huge range of accents, including many non native English speakers.
