DIGITAL AUDIO TRANSCRIPTION - The benefits
Easy to save and keep
By using a digital Dictaphone or recorder, you will be able to create files which can be simply and quickly saved to your PC or laptop, backed up onto CD or portable device and sent to third parties.
Keep your files for as long as you need
The quality of a digital file will not degrade as is the case with tapes. It can be deleted from your Dictaphone after you’ve saved it to your hard drive, thereby freeing up the space on your recorder with no need to buy replacement tapes.
High recording quality
The quality of digital recordings is generally very good - (see our guide on making good quality digital recordings). There are a large variety of types of digital voice recorders, so you should be able to find one to meet your needs, whether you’re planning to record meetings, interviews or just your own notes.
Recording Time
Digital recorders often have folders to enable you to easily organise your files and have varying capacities to meet your needs (some digital recorders have a capacity of 2GB or more).
File Size
Many Digital voice recorders will offer 35 hours or more of recording time and often have folders to enable you to easily organise your files (some digital recorders have a capacity of 2GB or more).
Transcription made easy!
Digital voice files are easy to navigate once you have the software installed on your PC. You can buy foot pedals to connect with a USB cable. Most software will give you the choice of speeding up or slowing down playback; you can easily fastforward or rewind and a lot of packages will also provide a noise reduction facility if your recording is not of the best quality.
